Minor surgery for moles and skin tags

Removal of moles, skin tags, and other skin lesions for cosmetic reasons is not always provided by the NHS.

We appreciate that moles and skin tags can cause embarrassment to men and women, and can cause problems when applying make-up, shaving, or by catching on clothing or jewellery.

After careful skin examination by our Doctor, and a detailed review of the history of the unwanted mole, benign moles (naevi) may be removed using a variety of different methods, such as surgical shave, cryotherapy (freezing) and hyfrecator cautery. All skin samples are sent for full pathology examination following the procedure.

Procedures are carried out under local anaesthetic , and you may resume normal activities immediately afterwards.

Although a small white scar is common after mole removal, the cosmetic result is usually considerably better than with traditional excision and suturing.
