Anti Wrinkle / Botox / Azzalure Injections
We use BOTOX® Cosmetic or Azzalure® which are a simple, nonsurgical, doctor-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in people from 18 to 65 years of age.
Botox injections have been used in clinical medicine to correct a squint (strabismus) since the 1980s. The observation that these patients also had improved appearance of wrinkles around their eyes after treatment, led to the cosmetic use of Botox for which it is now well known. The FDA approved Botox Cosmetic for use in the Glabellar area ( mid-frown) in 2002.
Botox can reduce crow's feet and eliminate forehead and frown lines, in addition to providing brow and neck lifts. Botox programs are determined on an individual basis according to facial composition and results desired.
When used as a rejuvenation technique, small quantities of clostridium botulinum are injected into specific facial muscles, causing them to relax . The muscles are no longer able to contract, thus preventing the formation of frown lines, forehead lines and crow's feet. Existing lines become much less obvious, because the underlying muscles are totally relaxed.
The most important aspect of Botox therapy for the patient is its safety record. It is not possible for Botox to produce a permanent effect. The muscles of facial expression recover completely in approximately 3 to 4 months. This is both a plus and a minus. The plus is the safety, the minus is that you will need to repeat the Botox treatments approximately every 12 weeks.
Botox can also be used to treat excessive sweating (known as Hyperhydrosis). In this instance Botox is used to treat the neuroendocrine end plate which is attached to the sweat glands. This effect lasts a lot longer at approximately 6 months.
